The Su Teatro summer hit returns to the stage just in time for heat and the cool shade of those June nights.
At the intersection of “Blues and Barrio” is the place where…
Chicanos Sing the Blues.
The late and great poet master revolutionary Gil Scott Heron said there are at least 500 shades of the blues.
With so many shades, Su Teatro explores the corridos, boleros, the oldies and the bluesiest of the blues, while uncovering the legends and roots of Chicano Music
from Mexican Divas Lola Beltran to Lydia Mendoza;
from Chicano Rock n Rollers’ Ritchie Valens to ? and the Mysterians;
from the fathers of Chicano and Mexicano Music Lalo Guerrero to Jose Alfredo Jimenez;
from Tejanos Freddy Fender to Randy Garibay.
Featuring Su Teatro Superveteranos Yolanda Ortega and Manuel R Roybal Sr.
plus an array of veteran singers and actors such as
Jesse Ogas, Felicia Gallegos Pettis, David Carrasco, Magally Luna and Phil Luna,
