The Cultural Arts Education Institute (CAEI), is home to all youth programming for Su Teatro. Next to our theater season, the CAEI is our largest ongoing project. We have worked with more than 7 school districts across Colorado as well as some private schools and have had the pleasure of working with thousands of students. The CAEI provides theater training which includes: acting, singing, and technical elements including costume design, set design, playwriting, directing, music and movement. We also provide ample, standards based reading, writing and communication education, through theater, to build necessary language skills of Chicano, Mexicano, and Emergent Bilingual students.

Current CAEI programming includes:

• VolARTE, our FREE after school theater program for Denver Area Youth (aged 7-20)
  • Meeting weekly, virtually and in person (socially distanced)
•  In-school theater classes/workshops (ongoing and one time)
• School touring shows
• Mainstage maintees for students
• El Teatro VolARTE, our award winning youth acting company

The Cultural Arts Education Institute commits to teaching the next generation of teatro students the skills necessary for success in school, theater, and life. The CAEI offers a restorative element to its students through engagement with, and re-enactment of, historical injustices; giving voice to our youth through performance.
