Legacy Campaign
Estimados Amigos,
Thank you for all you do and have done to support and encourage the work of Su Teatro. So many you have been with us from the beginning. You remember our early years of street performance, presentations in the park and makeshift mobile activism. Some of you talk about the years in the Elyria Elementary School building, which we called El Centro Su Teatro. There are many of you who have seen the tremendous growth and successes that we have had at our present location in the Santa Fe Arts District.
You have been supporters and advocates for Su Teatro because you saw the value to our community. As our community has gotten stronger so have we.
50th Anniversary
1972-2022
As we look forward to celebrating our 50th Anniversary, we are taking an opportunity to look back but also to look forward. We are pleased with our successes, none of which would be possible without the tremendous support of our community.
We have nurtured new generations of cultural activists, the success of the production Northside, which featured Su Teatro trained and nurtured artists playwright/poet Bobby LeFebre, actor/director Hugo Carbajal and producer Micaela Garcia de Benavidez.
There is much to be proud of, but there is also much for us to anticipate. The Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center has become a landmark and anchor for the Santa Fe Arts District and a destination for many who visit Denver from around the region. Because of you Su Teatro has been the most successful tenant of 721 Santa Fe Drive.
$100,000 To Go
In an environment where space is a premium and in many cases out of the reach of artists of color, we sit on a $250,000 mortgage. That alone would be something to celebrate, but thanks to you, we are almost $100,000 away from owning our facility free and clear.
Buy a seat to pay off the mortgage. We have sold 150 seats in the 250 seat Angelica Martinez Performance Hall (Su Teatro’s mainstage). When we sell the remainder we will have paid off our mortgage. The cost to purchase a seat is $1000.
The name of your choosing will be inscribed on the seat. You may choose to buy multiple seats for family and friends, and you may pay in one lump sum your payments spread over a longer period of time. For example $35 per month (or the amount of your choice) over 3 years would allow your seat to be paid seat in time for our 50th Anniversary
You and 99 others will assure that Su Teatro will be a space that will belong in our community for generations to come. Even in the face of gentrification and soaring real estate costs the organization and the legacy of you and the many others who have sacrificed for our community will stand tall and proud.
JOIN US TODAY!
Together, we can guarantee that communities of color always have a place in the heart of the city, that our presence is known, that we are seen, and that our art and culture reigns. In this age of reactionary politics, Su Teatro stands tall. We have reclaimed territory vital to The Westside at 721 Santa Fe Dr., Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center, in the heart of the historic barrio that was once ruled by Chicanos, and where Su Teatro was born in 1972.
