2023 Carpa Summit - August 8 - 12, 2023
A Carpa is a tent show, that popularly toured Mexico and along the border in the US. Mario Moreno AKA Cantinflas came out of the Carpa movement. The Chicano Theater movement has adapted the style of performance as a means utilizing the mobility and bawdiness of the Carpa to tell our story.
This week there will be a gathering of Chicano Theater practitioners from across the country to present and explore the different interpretations of La Carpa.
Does your heart break every time you hear Sleepwalk, and you have an uncontrollable desire to yell Ritchie?
