Season Programming
Su Teatro is the theater company that was founded in 1971. At almost 50, our company does a full MainStage theater season October – June, 4-5 shows a year, many of which are original Su Teatro company created works, adaptations or translations.
Su Teatro also does other projects throughout the year, including rehearsed readings at the WordFest, touring productions- annually AARP show in Pueblo, national tour (2021), and local projects such as the radio show of Enrique’s Journey (2019-2020 season).
We also showcase Latino playwrights such as Octavio Solis, Cherrie Moraga, Lisa Suarez (Jump-Start Performance Company), Paul S. Flores (Bay Area artist), Nicolas Valdez (San Antonio emerging artist) and Chicano Literary Award winner Marisela Trevino Orta.
Su Teatro is dedicated to producing original work for the American Theater Canon and since 2010 alone has delivered several original Su Teatro productions: The Lamented Last Night at the Rainbow Ballroom: El Louie and Other Post Pachuco Dreams; A Colorado en una noche de Navidad/To Colorado on a Christmas Night; Todo lo Mexicano; Chicanos Sing the Blues; Mestizo and Cuarenta y Ocho.
In addition to producing, we present 2-6 national touring artists each year.
